At the Jin Hua Hotel, a magician attempts an underwater escape trick with the help of Xu Yui, a famous author from Shanghai, but ultimately fails and loses his life, leaving the murder case unsolved. Meanwhile, Xu Yui relies entirely on her friend and manager, Zhang Wan. Convinced that her husband, Zhou Heng, is having an affair, Xu Yui suspects that his mistress is her fellow author, Chu Huizi. One day, Xu Yui receives a letter and spots Chu Huizhi heading somewhere. She follows her and ends up witnessing her husband, Zhou Heng, and her friend, Zhang Wan, kissing...

EP.01

Xu Yui discovers traces of Zhang Wan all over the house and breaks up with him, firing him for controlling every aspect of her life. On the day of a high-ranking government officials’ gathering at her in-laws’ home, Xu Yui senses Zhang Wan’s presence everywhere and, feeling that her husband and Zhang Wan are together, heads upstairs. Upon seeing the two of them together, Yu raises a knife at Zhang Wan, and at that moment, a bullet flies through the air and lodges in Zhang Wan’s head. Meanwhile, Yan Wei, who runs a photo studio, is a natural-born warrior but lives by suppressing his instincts in order to lead an ordinary life.

EP.02

Yan Wei, who had never let anyone into his heart, found himself increasingly drawn to Hong Mei, the milk delivery girl. When he learned that Hong Mei had been struck and killed by a car driven by Zhang Wan, and that the "Computer Magician" had missed his chance to save her while pursuing his own selfish interests, Yan Wei decided to abandon his ordinary life and seek revenge. Yan Wei sabotages the "Computer Magician’s" lock, causing him to die during a magic trick, and shoots Zhang Wan in the head from a distance. However, while fleeing after the sniper attack, Yan Wei and everyone else on the street are taken to the police station as suspects in Zhang Wan’s murder...

EP.03

Upon seeing Yan Wei being brought in to the police station, Xu Yui secretly helps him escape. Zhang Bin, who is investigating the murder case, suspects that the person who came to identify Hong Mei’s body is the same person who killed Zhang Wan, and interrogates Xu Yui, but gets nowhere. At Zhang Wan’s funeral, Xiu Yi offers a large reward for the killer. Feeling lost, she goes to see Yan Wei, but Yan Wei, who dislikes people getting close to him, tries to chase her away—yet he can’t stop thinking about her.

EP.04

More than a decade ago, Xie Fan and Xu Yui were in love, but ultimately parted ways for the sake of their futures. Now, Xie Fan reappears before Xu Yui and tells her that his feelings haven’t changed, but Xu Yui turns away resolutely. While dancing with friends at a dance hall, Xiu Yi overhears them gossiping about her and, startled, flees to a private room—where she discovers Chu Huizhi lying dead. However, Xiu Yi is subsequently framed for Chu Huizhi’s murder and becomes the focus of media attention. Meanwhile, Yan Wei, who was sold to a foreign country as a child, survives by being raised as a warrior.

EP.05

Upon learning of the affair between Xiu Yui and Zhou Heng, her father-in-law—the Minister of the Interior—declared it a disgrace to the family. To quell the furious media, he brought Xiu Yui an autobiographical novel written by someone else and ordered her to publish it. Unable to bear it any longer, Xiu Yui revealed the entire truth at the book signing event, apologized to the public, and demanded a divorce, claiming that her husband, Zhou Heng, had been having an affair with Zhang Wan. Later, while traveling by car, Xu Yui drank coffee given to her by her secretary and lost consciousness; the car carrying her then plunged into the sea. At that moment, Yan Wei, who had always been watching over Xu Yui, appeared and rescued her.

EP.06

After regaining consciousness at the hospital, Xu Yui learns she is three months pregnant. Upon hearing the news, Zhou Heng asks her to get back together, but Xu Yui refuses. Worried about Xu Yui, Yan Wei invites her to stay at his place. Zhou Heng showers Xu Yui with gifts in an attempt to win her back. Meanwhile, the Publishers Association issues an order to recall Xu Yui’s book, *Rumors*. Upon hearing this, Xie Fan visits Xu Yui, offering to help and asking to meet again, at which point Xu Yui reveals that she is pregnant.

EP.07

Yan Wei accompanies her to the obstetrician and takes great care of Xiu Yi. Zhou Heng insists that he is the baby’s father and urges her to return home, promising to move out until the baby is born. Xiu Yi returns home, but soon learns that Zhou Heng had once tried to kill her, and ultimately files for divorce. Meanwhile, Zhang Bin summons Xiao Min, the assistant to the computer wizard, to ask about the red bracelet. Upon learning that Chen Xiongqing and Chen Huizi were in a relationship, he goes to Chen Xiongqing’s house…

EP.08

Zhang Bin arrested Chen Xiongqing, the suspect in the murder of Chu Huizi, but while being taken to the police station, just as Chen Xiongqing was protesting his innocence, a truck crashed into the car carrying Zhang Bin and Chen Xiongqing, killing Chen Xiongqing instantly. Upon visiting the photo studio, Jang Bin looked at Yan Wei’s photo and suspected her of being the real culprit. Xie Fan visited Xu Yu and proposed that they raise their child together, but Xu Yu refused, recalling the day Xie Fan had left her. Just then, a gunshot rang out, and blood gushed from Xie Fan’s abdomen…

EP.09

Yan Wei was arrested as a suspect in the murders of Zhang Wan and Chu Huizi, and Xu Yu tries various ways to save him. She then learns that the reason Zhang Bin began to suspect Yan Wei was because her husband, Zhou Heng, had given her a lead. She finds a phone number in Zhou Heng’s notebook and gives it to Zhang Bin to assist with the investigation. Later, the trial for the murder case begins, and it is revealed that the testimony of the janitor—who claimed to have witnessed Xu Yui killing Chu Huizi—was perjury. Furthermore, Xu Yui takes the stand and declares that the real culprit is her ex-husband, Zhou Heng…

EP.10

Xu Yui identified Zhou Heng as the real culprit and presented photos of Zhou Heng and Chu Huizi on a date as evidence. When Zhang Bin arrested Xiao Bai and brought him to court, Yan Wei was released. On the day of Zhou Heng’s trial, Zhou Heng spoke at length with Xu Yui but realized they could never go back to the way things were. Ultimately, Zhou Heng was found guilty of murdering Chu Huizi and Chen Xiongqing, as well as attempting to kill Xu Yui and She Pan, and was sentenced to 10 years in prison. Four months later, She Pan left Shanghai, and Xu Yui was suffering from morning sickness.

EP.11

On the day of the birth, the baby Xu Yui gave birth to is handed over to Zhou Heng, and an unknown liquid is injected into Xu Yui’s IV. Xu Yui and Yan Wei give chase, but Zhou Heng is determined to leave Shanghai with the baby, even if it means killing Xu Yui. Just then, a bullet flies through the air, piercing Zhou Heng, who dies instantly. Upon hearing of his son’s death, Director Zhou flies into a rage and orders Yan Wei and Xu Yui to be killed, but he is startled by a sudden gunshot and eventually leaves for Beijing. Late at night, while everyone is fast asleep, Xu Yui goes to look for Yan Wei, but there is no one in Yan Wei’s room...
