After Moving Seats, The Boy Behind Me Has A Crush On Me

Mayama, an ordinary high school student, is shocked to find a confession written on a flyer that has been passed over from the seat behind her. To her surprise, the sender of the confession is Asamiya Kosei, a strikingly handsome boy who is practically the center of the class. After agonizing over it for a while, Mayama asks him about it, but Asamiya simply replies, “I wrote it for you, Mayama.” When Mayama asks what exactly he likes about her, Asamiya replies, “You’ll find out from now on,” and attaches a sticky note to the flyer. However, after reading the note, Mayama is disappointed, thinking Asamiya is just teasing her…

EP.01

Asamiya's romantic advances grow even more intense. During gym class, Asamiya sees Mayama talking with Sakaki and Tsune-kawada and can’t hide her jealousy. Mayama asks Asamiya if she really likes her just as a friend, but Asamiya replies that she doesn’t. Mayama, who had previously drawn a line for herself based on past memories, realizes that Sakaki and Tsune-kawada are just ordinary friends, and the two suggest that they take charge of planning together for the school festival…

EP.02

The four friends, who are planning the school festival together, meet up on the weekend to go shopping for outfits to wear at the festival. While Sakaki and Tsune-kawada are preoccupied with picking out their clothes, Asamiya and Mayama slip away first. They sit down together to eat ice cream, then head to the bookstore Mayama had been wanting to visit. After dropping Mayama off at her house, Asamiya runs into Ten, who is on his way to his part-time job. Asamiya and Ten exchange contact information while talking about Mayama. Watching them, Mayama is reminded of memories from the past. She tells Asamiya that there must be someone out there who’s a better match for him than she is, and then heads home…

EP.03

Believing that others were only approaching her because of her looks, Asamiya continued to receive many love confessions from girls at other schools even after entering high school, and she rejected them all. After hearing Sakaki say, “It’s okay to reject them, but don’t hurt their feelings,” she begins treating people kindly. However, when she discovers that someone has taken photos of her and posted them online, she closes her heart again. She accidentally overhears a conversation about dressing her up in women’s clothes and posting it on social media while she’s not in the classroom, and then witnesses a scene where Mayama says, “What matters most is Asamiya’s feelings.”…

EP.04

On the day of the school festival, which everyone had worked so hard to prepare for, Asamiya receives a phone call while on her way to school. The caller is Ten Mayama. Upon hearing that Hare has a fever and probably won’t be able to attend the festival, Asamiya asks Ten to tell Hare not to worry about the festival and to get plenty of rest. However, Hare insists she’ll manage somehow and asks Ten to keep her illness a secret from her friends. Just as the haunted house is about to open, Hare finally arrives, and the school festival gets off to a smooth start. However, during recess, Hare eventually collapses and is taken to the nurse’s office; by the time she wakes up, the school festival is already over. She apologizes to Sakaki and Tsune-kawada, who were sitting by her bedside, saying she’s sorry for letting everyone’s hard work go to waste because of her, but the two tell her not to worry, insisting it was a huge success…

EP.05

With summer vacation approaching, Sakaki suggests that everyone go on a trip together, but Mayama declines, using her part-time job as an excuse. Later, Sakaki spots Mayama putting flyers in the building where she lives, and Mayama, saying she needs to get to know more people, takes him to a karaoke bar. Outside the karaoke bar, Mayama realizes they’ve gathered for a meeting. To make matters worse, she runs into Asamiya and Tsune-kawada right in front of the karaoke bar…

EP.06

The two have started dating. Asamiya suggests to Mayama that they go to the summer festival, but Mayama is unable to go because of her part-time job. On the day of her part-time shift, Mayama learns that she has to work as a mascot at the very festival Asamiya had suggested they attend. While handing out tanazaku to passersby, she spots Asamiya walking arm-in-arm with a woman, touring the festival, and begins to wonder about their relationship. Just then, she runs into the classmates who bullied her in middle school. When Asamiya comes to her rescue after she finds herself in a difficult situation, Mayama demands an explanation about the woman Asamiya was with…

EP.07

Mayama wants to tell Sakaki and Tsunekawada about her relationship with Asamiya, but Asamiya continues to oppose the idea, worried that it might hurt Mayama. As Mayama’s worries continue, she eats the principal’s bread again, realizes something, and succeeds in persuading Asamiya, eventually telling Sakaki and Tsune-kawada that they are dating. Meanwhile, a month into the second semester, the seating arrangements change again…
