Hirokuni, suffering from daily stress and insomnia, collapses from exhaustion on the street. When he wakes up, he sees his old middle school friend Kai in front of him. Reuniting after 12 years, they head to Hirokuni's place where Kai, who has nowhere to stay, asks to stay with him for a while.

Thanks to the delicious food Kai prepares, Hirokuni gradually regains his health. One day, Hirokuni realizes that Kai has never been to a festival and invites him to go together to a festival held at a nearby shrine.

Hirokuni ends up being late for the festival he was supposed to attend with Kai. By the time he arrives, the festival is already over. Feeling dejected, Hirokuni returns home. Kai shows no signs of anger or disappointment, which leaves Hirokuni feeling puzzled.

At a company dinner, Hirokuni is shocked to hear that his mentor, Kaneko, is leaving the company. Overwhelmed, Hirokuni ends up getting very drunk. Kaneko contacts Kai, asking for Hirokuni's home address, but Kai insists on picking him up himself.

With Kaneko leaving the company, Hirokuni becomes the team leader and gets much busier. Meanwhile, Kai hears that his uncle will be discharged from the hospital soon, signaling that their cohabitation is nearing its end.

Kai tells Hirokuni that he will be leaving next Sunday. Hearing this, Hirokuni is taken aback, and as he imagines his days without Kai, he realizes just how important Kai has become to him. When he tries to stop Kai from leaving, Kai shares an unexpected story...
